So I've been meaning to make a blog for quite some time. I've attempted it several times and there are probably a few random ones floating about online. Please don't look for them. I'll now attempt another and it's all because of that damn iPad Apple announced today.
Don't get me started on the name.
I thought this was supposed to be the new wizbang thing? It's cool and all but I am left thinking is that it? I guess I am used to Apple coming out with cool new things that I didn't think of. Once the rumors of a tablet came out everyone with half a brain thought of the same stuff that is on an iPhone. I just assumed Apple was capable of doing more, but no. The iPad is nothing more than a big iPhone really. It does a few other things but nothing earth shattering.
My biggest complaint is no multitasking and no flash. Really? Everyone with an iPhone has been complaining from day one about these things and yet Apple still didn't put it into a tablet? Yea I know it has a great wonderful fancy Youtube app but who cares. I'm sick of youtube. I want to watch episodes of tv shows that are on tv. Obviously there are the illegal sites I wouldn't be able to see with this, but even the legal options like Hulu or ABC's site or something similar are unsupported. It's like hey look this does video, but only if you buy it from us.
Not that the iPod or iPhone is any different with their music, but we all listen to music over and over. How many times are you going to watch last week's episode of House?
It's also pretty cheesy that you can't even multitask. I know the iPhone can't and that's fine. It annoys me but usually I am doing only one thing with it anyways. I'd use the iPad just like a laptop at home. Unfortunately my laptop usually has Skype, yahoo messenger, msn messenger, firefox, and any number of other things running at once. I realize the more programs you run the slower it will be and this little thing probably can't handle a ton, but still. They just came out with the iWork stuff for it. Are you telling me that a person at work can't be working in iWork and also have skype open to discuss what they are doing with their business partners?
Another complaint. Don't worry. I have several more actually. Where is the usb port? Yea I know I can buy your stupid little camera or sd card widget thingy to plug into the dock plug but I don't wanna! I want to plug my reader in directly and transfer thank you! My old iPod photo could do that too with an adapter. I even bought it and used it. Once.
Why oh why is this thing only compatible with OS 10.5.something? I only have a G4 Powerbook. Are you telling me I have to buy a new Macbook or iMac in order to use this thing. I have iTunes, iPhoto, iCal. What do I need 10.5 for? I'm already planning on buying a new Apple something this summer that will do 1000 times as much stuff as the iPad for only twice the cost.
How about the screen. Most of the new cameras are shooting at 1080i and yet this thing only has a resolution of 720p. It isn't even widescreen. I thought everything was widescreen now!
Bah. You let me down Apple.
The sad thing is I might still buy one. How pathetic am I.
